Moving Parts
Excerpts of Denise Fujiwara’s Moving Parts, a stunning, dynamic, and high-spirited work for 6 dancers, a live band, and a moving choir were presented at Dusk Dances in 2019, and at the DanceWorks 40th anniversary event in 2017. We are delighted to bring a 30-minute version to Dusk Dances 2023. CHAMPIONESS is an electrifying performance by SaMel Tanz that combines boxing and contemporary, street, and Latin dance to explore notions of identity and mental health. Choreographers Sam Schleese and Mel Hart reflect on the power of solidarity amongst women as they face fears and navigate life-changing experiences, challenging society’s perceptions of winners and losers.
